When I began this series, I was interested in wrestling with the most basic and iconic of images. To find my own language of depicting suns, I draw from the tradition of the Latin American folk art that was visually ingrained in me as part of my Chilean heritage.

Over the last twelve years, these images have taken on many associations. Most recently with the pandemic, the Suns have become meditations on our fraught relationship to an overwhelming force, and on what it means now to be outside and exposed.
